The UMW is a faith-based membership organization of laywomen within The United Methodist Church. We are organized for mission, and our members are committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ. United Methodist Women has been in mission for more than 140 years. We provide opportunities and resources to grow spiritually, become more deeply rooted in Christ and put faith into action in our community with other women, building the lives of women, children and youth. We equip women and girls around the world to be leaders in communities, agencies, workplaces, governments and churches. We work for justice through compassionate services and advocacy to change unfair polices and systems, and provide education experiences that lead to personal change in order to transform the world. Salem United Methodist Women meet on the second Monday of each month at 5:45 pm in the Fellowship Hall for dinner, fellowship & to discuss business.
Moses Baskets is a group that meets the first and third Tuesday morning at 9:00 am in the Fellowship Hall. Laundry baskets are transformed through quilting and crafting to provide a special bassinet for needy newborns. Moses Baskets are dedicated each fourth Sunday during our 11am service, and donated to local pregnancy centers. If you enjoy sewing, crocheting or knitting, this is wonderful way of helping young mothers in their time of need..
